Dr Monica Lee qualified as a dental surgeon in 1997 from the United Medical & Dental School of Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. Monica was successful in being selected to continue as a House Officer in Paediatric Dentistry and Oral Medicine at Guy's Dental Hospital. She continued to further her surgical skills in hospital, joining the Maxillo-Facial units at St Richards (Chichester) and Worthing hospitals as a Senior House Officer.
Monica stayed on the South coast to complete her Vocational Training year in General Dental practice before moving to Germany to work for the Ministry of Defence, as a Civilian Dental Practitioner. Monica completed her MFDS examinations at the Royal College of Surgeons & Physicians and was accepted onto the 4-year Specialist Training Programme in Periodontology at Kings College London in 2004. Monica was awarded a merit in both her MSc and MClinDent qualifications and was accepted on the Specialist list in Periodontology in 2008.
She continued as a specialist clinical teacher in Periodontology at Guy's Hospital, Kings College London, alongside working as a Specialist Periodontist in a busy referral practice in London's West End.
Monica now works solely in the Cambridgeshire area as a Specialist Periodontist but continues to offer lectures to GDPs and hygienists/therapists on her specialist subject.
Monica has continued to keep up to date and has conducted clinical research, which has been published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology. She has also contributed to two periodontal textbooks. Monica is a member of the British Society of Periodontology (BSP) and has sat as their Commercial Liaison Officer and regional representative, providing lectures for their national roadshow.
Her special interests are in understanding the microbiome and managing periodontal disease both non-surgically and surgically. She accepts referrals in all aspects of periodontal issues including surgical treatments for crown lengthening, recession defects and surgical regenerative techniques.
